JAMAICANS, JAMAICANS IN FOREIGN, OVERSEAS AND ABROAD HELP US TO REMEMBER THOSE WHO HAVE DIED IN THE CORONA PANDEMIC

Jamaican Diaspora COVID – 19 Memorial

If you have a loved one, a friend or an acquaintance  who has succumbed to the deadly Corona virus, send us the information so we can properly honour and remember them on this website. Jamaica Global Online will list every name we receive, their age at the time of passing, the city in which they lived and the parish of their birth in Jamaica.  If you also have a photo that would even be better.

We are Jamaicans whether we live on the island or elsewhere in the global diaspora – in the North, Midlands and South of England, throughout the 50 United States of America, Africa, Europe and here in the Caribbean.

The passing of every Jamaican be he/she rich or poor, famous or unheralded, is deserving of being recorded as tragic victims of the deadly Covid-19 virus. We believe that there should be no shame or scorn in acknowledging these lives lived and lost to a pandemic that has shown no respect for persons whether high or low, elderly or youthful. Rather, it is the duty of those of us who have survived to memorialize our fallen countrymen and countrywomen, to whom there was no other chance to say farewell. Our duty extends to a younger generation as well as to generations yet unborn to create and preserve a true record – not only in numbers – but in the names and faces of those who died in this pandemic. We are especially keen to hear about the fate of medical and health professionals at the front line who have sacrificed their lives in helping others to live. Everyone needs to be counted and memorialized. No one should be left out.

The least we can do is to find a way to remember our fallen Jamaicans so they do not pass unnoticed and their contribution to their communities does not go unrecognized. None of us would wish for ourselves to be a faceless statistic in the city of our lonely and untimely death.

THE MEMORIAL PAGE

Let us now praise famous men, and our fathers who begat us.

The Lord hath wrought great glory by them through his great power from the beginning.

There be of them, that have left a name behind them, that their praises might be reported.

And some there be which have no memorial; who are perished, as though they had never been; and are become as though they had never been born; and their children after them.
